Dr. Nealis teaches in the Family Nurse Practitioner Program and the Pediatric Nurse Practitioner Program at the graduate level. At the undergraduate level she teaches Child Health Nursing and Professional Socialization Classes. She is the Clinical Track Coordinator for the Pediatric Nurse Practitioner Program.
Dr. Nealis’ research interests include clinical outcome data and the integration of clinical genetics in the undergraduate and graduate programs. Dr. Nealis’ dissertation work focused on evaluating the effect of nonnutritive sucking on lingual gastric lipase levels and fat absorption in preterm infants.
Dr. Nealis is President Elect of Alpha Theta Chapter of Sigma Theta Tau International and will assume the role of President for the 2004-2006 term. She is the college representative to the Health Science Center Parking Committee and the Anatomical Board Committee.
Clinical practice area/expertise
Dr. Nealis holds national certification as a Pediatric Nurse Practitioner and Case Manager.
Dr. Nealis received her BSN in 1971 and MN in 1972 from UF. She received her Pediatric Nurse Practitioner Certificate in 1976 from the University of Tennessee and Ph.D. from the University of Texas at Austin in 1994.
