Tenth Annual College of Nursing Research and Scholarship Day and 2013 Malasanos Lectureship April 5, 2013

The UF College of Nursing Research Day will feature faculty and student research poster presentations in areas such as adult and elderly nursing, pain, health-care environments and systems, and women’s, children’s and family nursing. Student posters will be judged and prizes awarded.

The Malasanos Distinguished Lectureship brings distinguished speakers to the university every two years to discuss a wide variety of health topics of interest to clinicians, patients and the public.

This year’s Malasanos Distinguished Lecturer is Vicki Conn, PhD, RN, FAAN, Potter-Brinton Distinguished Professor, Associate Dean and Director of the Meta-Analysis Research Center at the Missouri University School of Nursing who will speak on:

“Data vs. Sacred Cows: Meta-Analyses of Interventions to
Change Physical Activity Behavior.” 

Dr. Conn is editor of Western Journal of Nursing Research. She conducts meta-analysis research on interventions to change health behaviors. She has conducted three R01 funded meta-analyses of interventions to increase physical activity and medication adherence. Dr. Conn has had over 150 publications appear in well-known journals such as American Journal of Public Health, Nursing Research, Diabetologia, The Gerontologist, American Journal of Preventive Medicine, and Patient Education and Counseling.

The Malasanos Distinguished Lectureship was endowed in 1992 in honor of John Malasanos, husband of former College of Nursing Dean Lois Malasanos.
