A MESSAGE FROM UFIC DEAN LEONARDO VILLALON

July 07, 2020

Dear UF International Students,

As you may be aware, the Student and Exchange Visitor Program office (SEVP) announced new guidelines yesterday concerning the number of online courses that international students may take to remain in status in the Fall 2020 semester. These guidelines affect all universities across the United States.

We are keenly aware that this announcement raises many questions, and will add to the current stressful uncertainties with which we are all living. I write to personally assure you that we at the International Center are working immediately with the University administration and with partner institutions to get clarity on the exact implications of these new guidelines, and that we are committed to doing all in our power to ensure that you are able to continue in your studies and make progress to your degrees.  We will communicate information as it is available and ask for your understanding and patience in the meantime.

You, our international students, are core and valued members of our university community.   Please know that we are doing our best to help and support you in these difficult times.

With best wishes,
Leonardo A. Villalón
Dean, University of Florida International Center
