For the third consecutive year, the University of Florida College of Nursing experienced significant growth in National Institutes of Health funding and national rankings. The College of Nursing now ranks in the top 20, landing at No. 18 nationally, No. 12 among public colleges of nursing and No. 1 in Florida in NIH funding rankings for 2020, according to the Blue Ridge Institute for Medical Research.
With this new ranking, the College of Nursing rises three spots from No. 21 overall and No. 14 among public universities in 2019. In 2018, the college ranked No. 30 overall and No. 22 among public universities.
Research funding at the college focuses on three broad areas, including: personalized strategies for management of symptoms associated with chronic conditions; improving the delivery of quality care to reduce disparities in health outcomes and services; and translational research to promote health of individuals, families and communities.
“UF College of Nursing faculty have been actively engaged in a variety of interdisciplinary, innovative programs of research,” said Anna M. McDaniel, PhD, RN, FAAN, dean and the Linda Harman Aiken Professor. “In recent years, we have been fortunate to expand our faculty numbers, enhance our academic curriculum and continue to exceed annual goals for research funding.”
McDaniel said the College of Nursing is committed to continuing the upward momentum, with the goal of breaking into the top 10 among public colleges of nursing nationally.
