Gator Nurses Shine at Southeastern Nursing Research Conference

College of Nursing faculty and students were well represented in a recent display of cutting-edge research and innovation.

From March 1-3, over 30 Gator Nurses attended the Southeastern Nursing Research Conference, an annual celebration of nursing science in the southeastern United States. Attendees had the opportunity to share research findings, communicate insights and learn from breakout and keynote sessions to advance knowledge within the profession.

Students like Emma Sheehan (BSN 2023) were also able to be mentored by college faculty as they presented their own research. Shaheen, a member of the College of Nursing Honors program, thanks Dean Anna McDaniel, PhD, RN, FAAN, her professor Angela Starkweather, PhD, ACNP-BC, FAANP, FAAN and research mentor Leslie Parker, PhD, APRN, NNP-BC, FAAN, for helping her take part in an unforgettable experience.

“One thing that especially stood out to me was the excitement and encouragement I received from people who have been in the nursing profession for year,” she said. “I left the conference feeling rejuvenated and passionate about starting my career in nursing after seeing the huge impact nursing research has on the lives of others!”
