The University of Florida has strengthened its ranking among the nation’s top-10 public universities, rising to the No. 5 spot in the 2021 U.S. News & World Report Best Colleges list. UF remains the most highly ranked school in Florida and the only university in the state in the top 10. The university’s research awards have reached new heights and the UF College of Nursing’s (UFCON) has contributed to the research trajectory of the university. Since 2014, the UFCON’s NIH funding has increased nearly 12-fold and the college is now ranked No. 12 among colleges of nursing at public institutions. One of the top goals of the UFCON over the next three to five years is to continue the acceleration of our research and achieve ranking in the top 10 in NIH funding for public colleges of nursing. In addition to being a national leader in state-of-the-art research programs with focal areas including symptom science, reducing health disparities in health outcomes and services, and translational research for health promotion, the UFCON is also home to two interdisciplinary research centers – the Florida Blue Center for Health Care Quality and the Center for Palliative Care Research and Education. Major research resources and collaborators at UF include six major health-related research centers and institutes (Clinical and Translational Science Institute, Institute on Aging, UF Health Cancer Center, Emerging Pathogens Institute, McKnight Brain Institute, and Genetics Institute) designed to create synergistic and collaborative research opportunities. Recently the university and Health Science Center have launched an exciting initiative in artificial intelligence and data science
