ICYMI: UFPD offers a new resource for those who may be experiencing a behavioral health crisis. The Co-Responder team provides alternatives to arrest or officer use of force and promotes access to quality mental health treatment and services. Over the past year, this team has supported over 100 students, staff and non-affiliated individuals on our campus. You can call this team through UFPD dispatch at 352-392-1111. More information is available here or by contacting Meggen Sixbey, director of UFPD’s Behavioral Services Division. We also hope to host an upcoming informational session for faculty and staff about this resource soon.

This is a busy week in our Advancement Office! On Friday, our college will be hosting a full day of events for our alumni and donors, starting with a tour of Archer Family Health Care, then the Alumni Council meeting, followed by the Alumni Mentorship Meet-and-Greet for our students. Please encourage your students to attend the Mentorship Meet-and-Greet (held in the Kirbo Lab from 2-3:30 p.m.) to learn career advice from our experienced alumni. On Friday night, we will honor our loyal supporters at the college’s Donor Recognition Event, which will be held at the lovely Cade Museum. On Saturday, we hope to see you all at the reunion tailgate beginning at 3 p.m. at the Harrell Medical Education Building! Stay tuned for photos of all of these events in next week’s Weekly Update!

Faculty and Staff Spotlight
This week’s spotlight is Sarah Mazorra! She joined our college earlier this year as a graduate clinical placement coordinator. In her role, Sarah assists the track coordinators with securing clinical placements for our DNP students across the state of Florida. She is also responsible for recruiting and retaining DNP preceptors.
Sarah and her husband, Gus, who is also a UF employee, have two daughters, 8-year-old Olivia and 5-year-old Bianca. In her free time, Sarah currently is an active member of the PTA at her children’s elementary school, coaches U-10 youth soccer and volunteers with the Alachua County Animal Shelter, as well as other local animal rescues in the area. In 2020 alone, she and her family fostered over 30 dogs and puppies! Sarah also loves gardening, hiking, fishing and beach time with the family.
