Update from the College of Nursing Dean’s Search Committee
A huge thank you to everyone who made our dean finalists’ visits such a success. I know each candidate felt welcome and enthusiastic about the potential opportunity to be our next leader. I especially want to thank Jay Ortiz for his organizational skills in scheduling each interview and making sure the candidates were exactly where they needed to be. I anticipate Dr. Nelson will take all of our input and a decision about and negotiations with our finalist will be made in the next week or two. I look forward to sharing more information with our faculty and staff as soon as possible!

Our college had a fun-filled weekend! On Friday, our Alumni Council was invited for an exclusive tour of Archer Family Health Care before holding their fall meeting. We enjoyed a discussion on how to best support student scholarship, as well as remarks from current Alumni Council president, Ashley-Marie Mendez. Following this, our students connected with our experienced alumni at the Mentorship Meet-and-Greet, where they also gained new insight into various nursing specialties. That evening, we concluded the day’s events at the Cade Museum for our Donor Recognition Event, where we heard inspiring stories from current DNP student Jorge Mulet and BSN student Camilla Bustamante, who shared how private scholarships enabled them to pursue their nursing journey. We also honored several awardees at the event — it was so inspiring to see how the Gator Nursing community and our donor support can change lives. On Saturday, we enjoyed a great turnout at our Alumni Reunion Tailgate and also enjoyed a grand showcase of auction items benefitting the Book Award Scholarship fund provided by our alumni council. It was also wonderful to conclude our weekend's events with a well-earned win against the Tennessee Volunteers! Thank you so much to everyone who made this weekend’s events a success: Yancy Lawrence (who did the lion’s share of the event coordination), Anna Hoffman, Rachel Rivera, Kyle Chambers and Kacie Perryman.

Faculty and Staff Spotlight
This week’s spotlight is Lisiane Pruinelli! Lisiane is an associate professor who was brought to the college as part of UF’s AI Initiative. While she is not working (and not out to the beach) you may spot her grabbing coffee at her favorite bakery, Petit Uppercrust, after a morning run or Pilates. Although she moved to Gainesville just nine months ago, she has since found her way around and is proud to call it “home!” She loves to look around and see everything that is green, check on her gator “friend” by the UF parking lot, bike, cook, meet with new colleagues and friends and check out new events hosted by UF Performing Arts.
