About Cindi Figueroa
Before coming to the University of Florida/College of Nursing (UF/CON), Dr. Figueroa (formerly Figueroa-Haas) practiced in Miami-Dade, Florida as an Adult Care Nurse Practitioner specializing in cardiology, family care, cosmetic surgery, and home health. As an Adult Health Nurse Practitioner, she is Nationally Board Certified by the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC). She is the Adult-Gerontology Primary Care Nurse Practitioner Track Director for the College. Additionally, she advises the Adult-Gerontology Primary Care Nurse Practitioner Track Doctoral of Nursing Practice (DNP) students and teaches both on-line & face-to-face didactic graduate nurse practitioner associated courses.
Dr. Figueroa’s research interest is primarily centered on psychological factors associated with women’s health. Other research interest are focused on the psychological and social factors that affect specific illnesses or client populations, such as clients who seek elective cosmetic surgery, post-menopausal women and sexuality issues related to women’s health. Currently, Dr. Figueroa is pursuing research associated with veteran post-traumatic stress disorder and the effects on military families.
Dr. Figueroa is involved in a number of nursing organizations, including the American Association of Nurse Practitioners (AANP), American Nurse Credentialing Center (ANCC), National League for Nursing (NLN), American College of Cathopathic Physicians (ACCP), American Nurses Association (ANA) and Sigma Theta Tau Nursing Honor Society – Alpha Theta Chapter . She is also a member and actively involved in the North Central Florida Advance Practice Nurses, Inc. (NCFAPN) Association and is appointed as the liaison for the University of Florida College of Nursing. In addition, she is an editorial board member and reviewer for the Austin Journal of Nursing & Health Care, Journal for Nurse Practitioners, Advanced Nursing and Patient Care International Journal, F.A. Davis Company (book), Lippincott William & Wilkins Taylor (book). She volunteers for the Gainesville Florida After Hours Clinic as a nurse practitioner. Dr Figueroa is the primary nurse practitioner/CON faculty actively involved in a grant funded by Florida Blue and partnered with the College of Dentistry at UF. She participates in various ongoing military support venues at the University of Florida. In addition, Dr. Figueroa volunteers for international mission and community health venues related to underserved clients who require dental and medical health care.

Dr. Figueroa’s areas of expertise is related to advanced adult health care, namely issues associated with acute and chronic illnesses, woman’s health promotion and maintenance, cosmetic surgery, home health care, nurse practitioner related dental/medical issues and administration of IV sedation. She is also a legal nurse consultant, expert witness in multifaceted adult health issues within the United States. She has honors with the USA National Academy, Achievement Award; was awarded the Phi Kappa Phi, Sigma Theta Tau Honor Awards and graduated with a Summa Cum Laude Status.
