Dr. Fatih Kunkul is an emerging nurse scientist dedicated to improving chronic pain management in adults—his research centers on promoting patient engagement in the treatment of chronic low back pain (CLBP). Dr. Kunkul investigates the patient engagement concept, the daily impact of pain on patients with CLBP, and how patient engagement affects pain-related patient outcomes. Through this work, he aims to advance patient-centered interventions that enhance the quality of pain management and improve patient well-being.

Dr. Kunkul’s areas of expertise are pain assessment and management, patient engagement, daily life impact, and health equity.
