About Joyce K Stechmiller
Dr. Stechmiller teaches research and theory courses for baccalaureate and Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) students. Dr. Stechmiller mentors doctoral students through chairing and participating on doctoral committees.
Dr. Stechmiller’s research interests focus on biobehavioral aspects of chronic wound healing including biobehavioral mechanisms, inflammation, symptoms, nutritional status and interventions for wound healing in adults and older adults. She is currently an MPI for RO-1 NRO16986-01A1 Biobehavioral mechanisms underlying symptoms and healing outcomes in older individuals with chronic venous leg ulcers.
She held membership on the Board of Directors of the National Pressure Ulcer Advisory Panel and was previously a Board member of the Wound Healing Society. She is a member of the Wound Healing Society, Florida Nurse Association, Sigma Theta Tau International, and Southern Nursing Research Society. She serves as an editorial consultant and peer reviewer of the Wound Repair and Regeneration, European Journal of Clinical Nutrition, International Journal of Quality Health Care, Biological Research in Nursing, Clinical Nutrition and American Journal of Critical Care. She is on the editorial board of the journal of Advances in Wound Care.
