Students

All UF College of Nursing students are encouraged to attend our Nursing Career Fair 2024 to be held on Friday, February 9 from 11:30 am-3:30 pm, in the ground floor HPNP Reception Hall (under the auditorium)! A listing of last year’s recruiters may be found here: participating organizations. It will be updated as organizations submit registration materials. This is event is for ALL students – Gainesville and Jacksonville campuses, as well as online. CON Alumni are also welcome to attend. This event is “come and go” – meaning that you arrive and depart according to your needs and schedule, and are not required to attend the entire 4-hour event.

Please complete the “Career Fair – Student RSVP” form below, on this page, to help us properly prepare for the event. Student deadline to RSVP is extended to Feb. 5. While this is very helpful to us for the current fair and planning of future fairs, it is NOT required. Please do not skip the fair because you did not RSVP. Jacksonville students should add a request for a parking voucher in the comment section of the RSVP form – which will prompt an email to you with directions for event day parking and a voucher in your name at check-in to waive the parking fee of $20.

Helpful Tips

  • Create your resume in advance to allow time for review and revisions. Estimate that you will need 25 copies to provide one to each organization present. Consider carrying them in a folder or padfolio, if you have one. Including a cover letter is optional. If you do include one, you may want to make 2 versions:
    • one that features your highest specialty level;
    • one that is more generic, but can be given to organizations that do not offer your specialty (you still want to create a wide network of contacts).
  • Practice your “Elevator Pitch” until it flows naturally.
  • Speak to as many organizational representatives as possible, even if you don’t currently have a special interest in that organization.
  • Come prepared with several questions for organizational representatives, and ask at least two at each organization’s table.
  • Dress professionally. Hem lines should not be too short and heels should not be too tall.
  • Continue to check the list of participating organizations participating in Career Fair 2024. We will continue to add them as registrations are received. Each has a link to career information at that specific organization.

Navigating Career Fairs

Career Fairs allow you to explore what experiences are available to you in real time. You can use career fairs to research companies and organizations that could be interesting to you. Talking to employers can help gather information and insight on your career options.

Elevator Pitch

Crafting a concise and compelling introduction (sometimes called an “elevator pitch” or position statement) is a common way to answer the “tell me about yourself” interview questions, introduce your professional goals, or how you can be of assistance to individuals or organizations at networking events. These introductions should be polished and customized based on your target audience and should be 30-60 seconds.

FREE TO ALL UF STUDENTS

Need Professional Clothing or Headshot?
