HOSTED BY THE COLLEGE OF NURSING

Spring 2024 Pinning & Recognition Ceremony

Friday, May 3, 2024, at 10:00 a.m. in the Curtis M. Phillips Center for the Performing Arts. Traditional ceremony recognizing new nurses to the nursing profession and is only for Nursing undergraduates and specific to Nursing, where students are individually recognized with their names called as they cross the stage to be pinned by a member of the Alumni Council, who host the event. This is NOT the same as the Commencement (graduation) Ceremony. We encourage Nursing undergraduates to attend both the Pinning & Recognition Ceremony and the Commencement (aka – Graduation) Ceremony. Most of our graduates participated in the White Coat Ceremony as incoming nursing students, which celebrates health care students as they move from preclinical study into the clinical area. The Pinning & Recognition Ceremony is to again celebrate the cohort as they prepare for another milestone- entering the nursing profession.

Doors open at 9:00 a.m.; graduates report to Fackler Foyer West by 9:15 a.m.; all others seated by 9:45 a.m.; processional at 10:00 a.m.; no tickets are required for this ceremony; students typically wear their white coats as regalia is not appropriate for this ceremony.

Again – this traditional ceremony recognizes new professional nurses, and is for BSN spring graduates (Traditional BSN & RN to BSN). However, it is NOT the same as the Commencement (aka – Graduation) Ceremony. Follow the link below for complete details and information on how to order your pin and RSVP for the ceremony.

Spring 2024 Pomp & Circumstance Celebration

The College of Nursing is planning a Pomp & Circumstance Celebration immediately following the Pinning & Recognition Ceremony on Friday, May 3, 2024 in the Curtis M. Phillips Center for the Performing Arts. During this celebration, graduates will don their regalia and be led back into the theatre to process onto the stage once more. Your name will be announced as you cross the stage, receive congratulations from Dean Henderson and have a photo taken by an official UF graduation photographer.

In order to participate, you are required to RSVP for this activity within the Pinning & Recognition Ceremony RSVP by the deadline (noon EST on Feb. 8).

You must have your own regalia to participate – refer to information from the separate UF Commencement website for ordering information and ordering deadline (UF vs the College of Nursing is the source of your information for regalia and commencement).
