Note: Effective October 15th, ExamSoft will no longer support Mac OS 13 and below or Windows 10. Windows 11 as the supported OS on a PC based system.
Minimum Laptop Requirements for all College of Nursing Programs
- Laptop running either Mac OS or Windows 10.
- Working webcam and microphone.
- Access to high speed internet per the FCC definition.
- High speed internet access of at least 25 Mbps DOWN and 3 Mbps UP.
- Test your internet speed here.
- Students are strongly encouraged to have a smartphone for 2FA (multi factor authentication).
- Students are eligible for free current Microsoft Office software packages.
Laptop Security Requirements
- Encryption: Student’s laptops must be encrypted. Encryption resources are available here.
- Antivirus requirements:
- Windows: Microsoft Defender Antivirus is built-in to Windows and is free.
- Mac: Avast offers free third party solutions.
- Cloud Storage: Students are strongly encouraged to use cloud storage for course work and collaboration, there are multiple cloud storage options available for free, click here.
- Zoom: Must use single sign on with Gatorlink ID to login.
- VPN: UF’s Virtual Private Network (VPN) is required for accessing resources from off campus.
- Username: username@ufl.edu/health
- Eduroam: wireless at UF. Eduroam is used at institutions worldwide making it easier for staff and students to collaborate across academic institutions for conferences and programs.
NOTE: While a Chromebook, iPad or iPad Pro may be used for certain college courses. They do not meet the minimum standards, please click on the specific computer requirements for your program using the sections below.
