Gator Nurse Gatherings
The College of Nursing is excited to host Meet the Dean at our Gator Nator Nurse Gathering events! This is a great opportunity for you to meet Dr. Shakira Henderson, the sixth dean of the UF College of Nursing, as well as interact with fellow Gator Nurses, network, and find out what’s happening at the College. Our popular Gator Nurse Gatherings have been held all over the state of Florida (Orlando, Tampa, Gainesville, Jacksonville, Tallahassee and South Florida) as well as other regional areas such as San Francisco, Atlanta, and New York City! And now we will be touring with our new dean!
In 2024-2025, we hosted Meet the Dean events in DC, Gainesville, Jacksonville, Miami and Atlanta. Gator nurses visited with each other, Dean Shakira Henderson, many faculty members, and Professors Emeriti Dr. Jo Snider & Jodi Irving.
Stay tuned to hear about future Gator Nurse Gathering events! If you are interested in participating or helping to promote an event, contact nur-advancement@health.ufl.edu.

Thank you for helping us reach our fundraising goal! Our team is coming together for the Breakthrough T1D Walk, and we’re committed to helping Breakthrough T1D create a world where type 1 diabetes (T1D) is a thing of the past. This is more than a moment—we’re creating a movement for the T1D community. For this walk, a generous donor has agreed to donate $10 per team registrant to the team fundraising campaign and also will donate $10 per team registrant to the College of Nursing!
Will you donate to our team or join us for the Breakthrough T1D Walk?
With your support, Breakthrough T1D is creating a movement to improve and change life with T1D, advancing breakthroughs on the way to cure the condition. While our team’s goal is ambitious, it’s nothing compared to what those with T1D face every day. Your contribution can change lives. Thanks for your generosity and support!
What is type 1 diabetes (T1D):
T1D is a chronic autoimmune condition in which the pancreas stops producing insulin, an essential hormone that helps the body turn food into energy. It places a profound human, emotional, and financial burden on those who live with it and their families.
Right now, there is no cure. That’s where we come in.
